Journal Entry 1 Part 3

It safe to say that it's possible to connects the song "Somewhere I Belong" to the Black Lives Matter event because every African Americans want to be welcomed in the US and feel that they belong in the country. The Black Livers Matter isn't just about racial justice, it's about the desire for everybody to feel safe. In Unit 2, I recently learned that there's 2 types of Reconstruction, Presidential and Congressional, they each affect the Confederates and African Americans respectively in a different way and they are opposite of each other. The point is there is a time where the US government is there to help the black people and sometimes the government stands against us by blaming the black people for everything that has happened.

Every time I look at those three words, It makes me feel hopeful because their are people who are willing to stand up to police brutality and is willing to cause a riot for social equality. For Example, Martin Luther King became the most influential people in the world because he stood and fight for what he believed in until his assassination. Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white person because she had that seat fair and square and she shouldn't be punished for it.

There's is a question if it's harder to interpret an object, Personally I think it's harder to interpret an object because I feel that the 2 objects I choose does not have any connection to history and they might mean to nothing about a historical topic. I understand that it could be easier for other people because they have an object that is easy to interpret but I guess my first item is somewhat easy to interpret because the clue is in the name and it means acceptance. If a historian from the 1900s were to interpret my first item he might understand what I'm saying because the whole racial problem happen a long time ago and it's been going on since. After doing these journal entry's I realized, that there are many things that can connect to history because these items hold sentimental value to you or your family, For Example, A necklace can have a historical connection because it's been passed down to a family for generations. This proves that any item you value have sentimental meaning and historical connection you don't know about.
